I’ve been getting up to Collingwood for weddings a lot lately, and though I’ve been skiing exactly once in my life, I find Blue Mountain’s ski village aesthetic pretty darn charming.

Geoff and Krista were married at The Westin Trillium House this past fall, with ceremony and reception both taking place on site. Geoff had asked for a “yacht rock” playlist for cocktail hour and I had a pretty fun time pulling together some Hall & Oates, Supertramp and Fleetwood Mac.

Following dinner, the dancing kicked off with a Macedonian “bread dance”, a tradition from Krista’s side of the family where the newlyweds pull apart a huge loaf of bread and the one who comes away with the largest piece becomes head of the household. Krista was the clear winner.

The couple had very few “must plays” except for Wild Ones by Flo Rida, a song that brought them back to their university bar days and the early years of their courtship. The dancefloor stayed packed, with plenty of dance-offs, buttshaking and handwaving throughout the night. The evening wrapped with the bride and groom leading a spirited singalong of Meatloaf’s “I’d Do Anything for Love”
